Plenty of parking, delicious and moderate portions, so many choices to make! You wanna order a soup? Buckle up bc you got decisions to make. What kind of meat? What kind of noodle? What kind of spicy level? Make sure you prep before they come around to take your order. The Thai boat noodles are delicious and I think the medium spice level is great--a bit of a kick but not too much. The egg rolls were so so and we ended up between three people getting egg rolls, three soups and one dry bowl, plus the roti. The roti was not very filling but it was delicious. We walked over to get fried chicken after this LOL so you can feel free to order more. The crispy pork is bomb and the speed of the dishes coming out was incredible. Very well done and a fantastic spot. Definitely recommend especially if you want just a simple bowl for a quick lunch.

Everything was so delicious, especially the pork jerky! As a Thai person I approve of the authenticity of the foods here.

This place deserves all the positive reviews. Starting with the food, I get the feeling it's one of those places where everything on the menu is food, just depends on what you're in the mood for. That said, I had the egg rolls, the dry noodles with beef, and the owner kindly shared a pudding- type dessert (I forgot the name). Everything was delicious, their flavors are so good. Everyone at the bar seating by me had ordered something different and everyone was loving it. This place is top tier Thai food, and the owners are very nice and know what they're doing. I'll be back to try the rest of their menu asap. The food comes quickly, and the workers and owners are super nice and helpful with recommendations.

*** Michelin Bib Gourmand *** ** Los Angeles Times 101 Best Restaurants (2024): #57 ** You typically can't go wrong with a restaurant featured in both the Michelin Guide and LA Times 101 Best Restaurants list. Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles was no exception. Came here tonight for dinner for my first time and was impressed by both the quality and taste. While not my favorite Thai restaurant in Los Angeles, this place definitely lived up to the enormous hype. To eat, the two of us split one order of the Original Thai Boat Noodle ($8.49), one order of the Dry Thai Boat Noodle ($8.49), and one order of the Chili Holy Basil Over Rice ($13.95). We ordered all of our dishes mild and with beef. For the Original Boat Noodle, we ordered Big Flat Noodle, and for the Dry Boat Noodle, we ordered Thin Rice Noodle. The Boat Noodle dishes, though relatively small, were definitely the highlight of our meal. The noodles, meat, and overall flavor were all top notch. That said, we probably would pass on ordering the Chili Holy Basil Over Rice again. Although we ordered it mild, it came quite spicy. Also, we weren't huge fans of the rice. If looking for a high quality Thai restaurant in Thai Town, Mae Malai is an excellent option.

I love boat noodles, but it's not a common dish to find. So when I saw a write up on it, I knew I had to give it a try. We went here for dinner after spending our day at Universal Studios. This place is located in a mini-mall, so there were no issues with finding parking. As we walked up, I noticed the Michelin Bib Gourmand signage, which was a promising. As we entered, I immediately thought this was a small place. Small enough that there were only two servers to service the entire place. Fortunately, it wasn't busy yet, so we got a seat immediately. We ended up trying the following: - Pork Jerky: Very good. I'm not sure the word "jerky" is the best description, because it implies something dried out, which it isn't. Great flavour. - Original Thai Boat Noodle: Very good. I don't have much to compare it to as I've only had Boat Noodle from one other place, but I loved it just as much. Incredible flavours. Rather small serving though, but OK given the low cost. I could easily order a 2nd bowl to eat. - Pad Thai: Very good. Authentic. Fresh and properly made. - Clear Noodle Soup: Good. Not as good as the other dishes, but still good. Service is quick, efficient and friendly enough. Overall, I was really happy with the meal. Great, authentic, no-fuss food at reasonable prices. I would happily return for more.

This is one wonderful restaurant. I heard so much about this place so I decided to try it with my boyfriend. we pulled in the parking lot and found it very easy to get a parking space as they have parking upstairs and downstairs. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the waitresses who is very very nice. We sat down and started off with the eggrolls and then had the beef meatball skewers which were delicious. We then tried her famous dish which was the beef boat noodle. I was very impressed because the owner malai came out to greet us. She was very sweet, had a genuine personality and really appreciated that we came to her restaurant. I live on the west side of LA but when I'm in the area Thai town I will definitely make this a destination.

What We Ordered - Thai Boat Noodles Soup (Spicy) - Tom Yum Noodle Dry (Medium) - Tom Yum Noodle Soup (Medium) - Pork Jerky - Mango Sticky Rice Food was SUPER spicy I need to go back and try it in mild. Nose was running but it tasted so good!!! It kept you wanting more. Line is extremely long so try not to go during peak hours. We opted to sit at the bar and didn't have to wait long! The rice was dry/hard for the mango sticky rice. Will definitely come back to try other items!
